Apprenticeship Overview
A work-based learning programme for employees who carry out routine administrative tasks across all sectors and organisation sizes.
Key responsibilities might include supporting daily operations under supervision by performing data entry and other routine admin tasks, using digital systems to collate and update information, assisting colleagues and responding to supervisor feedback to meet timescales and quality standards, acting as a contact for internal and external stakeholders, liaising with departments such as IT, finance and HR, adapting to changing priorities, and handling sensitive information appropriately.
Apprentices will be required to have achieved Level 1 English and maths prior to taking their End Point Assessment.
*This standard is restricted to ages 16–24.

Developing Core Knowledge
- Know relevant laws, regulations, organisational policies (e.g., GDPR, data protection, licences), and how they affect roles and compliance.
- Understand the organisation’s structure, vision, sector context (technology, finance, sustainability, CSR, DEI) and their impact on priorities and stakeholders.
- Use software and digital tools (databases, spreadsheets, communication platforms, cloud services) to retrieve, store, back up and protect information, respecting confidentiality and retention rules.
- Follow quality assurance, escalation and safe-working processes (online and on-site), fact-checking, feedback mechanisms and when to seek clarification or help.
- Apply time-management, record-keeping and communication principles (written and verbal) to meet deadlines and deliver stakeholder-focused outputs.
Developing Core Skills
- Receive, process and store information accurately using organisational systems and software, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with policies and legislation.
- Use agreed tools (databases, calendars, cloud platforms) to manage records, bookings and resource usage, and share information appropriately with stakeholders.
- Communicate professionally across written, verbal and electronic channels, respond to feedback, signpost or escalate issues (e.g., safeguarding, complaints) as required.
- Plan, prioritise and review assigned admin tasks, use time-management tools to meet deadlines, and check work for accuracy.
- Follow security, health & safety and organisational protocols, seek clarification or help when needed, and use CPD and self-reflection to develop skills.
