Lead bid writer

LOCATION: NATIONAL POSITION

The focus of the position is to produce professionally written tender content to effectively secure new contract wins.

You will be responsible for delivering comprehensive but accurate tender submissions that professionally and concisely answers questions asked. You will have a strong understanding of policy and funding requirements.

Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities

Include but are not limited to the following:

  • Rebidding for existing contracts and growth cases timely and effectively
  • Identifying and leading on tenders for new funding contract opportunities
  • Ensuring registers and bidding portals are kept up to date with B-Skill current offer and Company information.
  • Collating and maintaining (on SharePoint) an up-to-date bidding pack of all essential policies and information required for Tenders.
  • Maintaining comprehensive and accurate records of all bids and tenders submitted on SharePoint.
  • Sourcing and joining effective VFM contract find services so that we are aware when (for example) large Levy paying employers are retendering for apprenticeships. Bidding for Levy Employer contracts (as agreed with joint Head of Operations) to expand our range of apprenticeship employers.
  • Presenting contract opportunities to the Directors, Executive and Senior Colleagues for tendering decisions.
  • Drawing up (with colleagues) and effectively maintaining subcontracting processes in line with Funding Rules and B-Skill requirements.
  • Identifying and evaluating potential partnerships to support B-Skill Strategic Growth Plans.
  • Taking a lead and driving the effective onboarding of new partners, excluding any price negotiation.
  • Working with the joint Head of Operations and the Head of Quality to ensure that actual delivery plans match those in the tenders relating to the contracts.
  • Support Head of Operations/operational managers in meetings with Devolved Region Contract Managers, as required.
  • Actively supporting Head of Operations/operational managers with business development in any contract area where B-Skill is at risk of underperforming.
  • Identifying, proposing, and sourcing (if agreed by the joint Operational Heads/ Executive) appropriate potential new products in line with B-Skill Strategic Plans.

  • B-Skill does not have a dedicated health & safety officer; therefore, all members of the Management team are expected to play an active part in managing health, safety and welfare within their areas of responsibility. This includes carrying out risk assessments as required in relation to staff and learners and reporting, investigating, and recording incidents and accidents should an incident occur. You are expected to have a good understanding of health & safety and may be required to carry out Health & Safety Vettings and Risk Assessments when identifying partnerships.

LeaRNER SUPPORT OFFICER

LOCATION: HOME BASED / OCCASIONAL NATIONAL TRAVEL WILL BE REQUIRED

You will be responsible for enrolments within the Traineeship and Apprenticeship provision to ensure efficient and responsive onboarding of learners.

You will be a key point of liaison providing information, advice and guidance from selection, initial contact through to completion of the onboarding process.

You will conduct progress reviews for Traineeships with learners offering support throughout their learner journey, from initial contact through to programme completion, including any onward careers and learning advice and destination tracking.

Flexibility required as occasional evening/weekend appointments may be required

£22,000-£25,000 depending on experience

Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities

Apprenticeships

Co-ordinate and manage Apprenticeship learner enrolments for all employers with the Apprenticeship delivery team to meet company targets.

Identify and respond to learner queries and provide prompt, appropriate information, guidance and advice via phone, email, SMS, or other agreed means, to support learners appropriately.

Carry out induction training with Coaches on the enrolment, IAG and learner satisfaction processes.

Prepare and create documents/reports, as relevant.

Promote Apprenticeships and Traineeships at job fairs, education providers etc.

Utilising your experience in your specialist field, you will have an in-depth understanding of the professional apprenticeship standards you will be accountable for delivering.

You will be responsible for delivering outstanding teaching, learning and assessment practices that engage and inspire apprentices to fulfil their individual potential and develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours to successfully achieve their Apprenticeship Standard.

All B-Skill Learning & Development Coaches should have the ability to inspire learners with personal credibility and professional confidence.

Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities

Key Tasks and Responsibilities: 

  • Undertake learner induction and identification of training and support needs to ensure the appropriate training is identified for the learner and identify whether additional support is required, and the learner is on the correct level and Apprenticeship standard.
  • Carry out a robust review of current knowledge, skills and behaviours to ensure that any recognised prior learning is identified and a suitable learning plan is applied.
  • Carry out initial and diagnostic assessment of Maths and English to ascertain the correct level of support and teaching for the learner. You will be responsible for delivering Functional Skills and ensuring the Apprentice needs are met appropriately and in a timely manner.
  • Effectively plan and deliver an Apprenticeship programme that enables the learner to demonstrate the appropriate skills, knowledge and behaviours that are aligned to the relevant Apprenticeship standard.
  • Prepare the Apprentice to be able to demonstrate consistently that they have met the required sector set professional standards enabling them to be supported through gateway to end point assessment.
  • Be fully conversant with the End Point Assessment Plan relevant to the Apprenticeship Standard. You will support the Apprentice for readiness for end point assessment by ensuring that they are capable and confident in all expected end point assessment methods.
  • Plan and monitor learners Off the Job Training (OTJT) requirements, based on learner’s programme of learning, to ensure this meets funding body regulations.
    • Be able to write and develop appropriate lesson plans, schemes of work and learning resources that stretch and challenge Apprentices and support the achievement of learning outcomes.
    • Undertake reviews with the learner to monitor learner progress and set SMART targets.
    • Undertake progress reviews with learner and manager to ensure progress against knowledge, skills and behaviours is demonstrated.
    • Be able to use and support learners using E-Portfolio.
    • Effectively manage the progress and performance of learners on caseload.
    • Complete all appropriate documentation and accurately maintain and record data in accordance with funding and awarding body requirements.

Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities

The Data & Compliance team is responsible for processing documentation, ensuring compliance with ESFA funding rules and Awarding Bodies. They are also responsible for managing, analysing and reporting on funding and learner data in the organisation.

Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities

Include but are not limited to the following:
• Provide a reception service to visitors and callers
• Handle incoming and outgoing mail
• Eligibility and compliance checking of paperwork/documentation in line
with Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) rules ensuring integrity
and accuracy of funding claims.
• Processing of ILR claim including starts, achievements and in-learning
evidence within agreed deadlines.
• Processing of Awarding Body/EPA registrations/certifications
• Support with the Production/communication of compliance reports
according to the agreed schedules

MENTAL HEALTH & WELLBEING TUTOR

LOCATION: OSSETT

B-Skill are looking to recruit a Classroom Tutor to deliver Mental Health & Wellbeing Programmes.  Other generic delivery skills including Employability, Digital Skills/IT and Functional Skills would be advantageous.

National role based around the Ossett/Wakefield/West Yorkshire region

Flexible contract basis, minimum 2 days per week.

Principle Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging classroom based training in Mental Health Awareness
  • Empower learners to manage their own mental health and wellbeing
  • Effectively engage learners with an in-depth and tailored training experience to support learners to prepare for employment or other progressions.
  • Provide comprehensive support from enrolment to initial assessment through the delivery of individualised programme of learning , developing all aspects of an individual’s employability journey.
  • Produce and review an effective ILP in conjunction with each learner and their individual support needs.
  • Develop schemes of work and lesson plans as well as contributing to the on-going development of new training materials and resources.
  • Manage learner caseload and ensure timely completions and minimum achievement levels of 90% based on classroom of 8-10 learners
  • Ensure all learners have a quality CV and are applying for jobs

APPRENTICESHIP manager

LOCATION: MIDLANDS – THIS IS A NATIONAL ROLE WITH SOME TRAVEL REQUIRED

HOURS: 40 HOURS PER WEEK (FLEXIBLE WORKING)

The Apprenticeship Manager is responsible for ensuring the effective development, management and monitoring of Apprenticeship delivery on a national basis.

 We are looking to recruit someone who can bring the delivery of Apprenticeships to life in a way that engages, inspires and leads teams/learners to high achievement.

 You will manage, coach and mentor the team of Apprenticeship delivery staff. The Apprenticeship Manager is responsible for managing the effective day to day adherence of processes and procedures and monitoring of apprenticeship delivery on a national basis. The role will require external and internal liaison and communication to ensure that all apprenticeships are onboarded and progressed compliant with required regulation and funding rules.

 You will be responsible for ensuring the timely completion of all learners and, working closely with the Quality Assurance team, you will oversee the success, retention and progression of all learners.

Principle Accountabilities and Responsibilities

Include but are not limited to the following:

  • Accountable and responsible for B-Skill Apprenticeship delivery.
  • To manage, coach and mentor Apprenticeship delivery staff. Responsibility for the performance management of Apprenticeship provision to include programme performance, improving the quality of teaching, learning and assessment, Functional Skills Achievements, Learner Starts, Progressions, Timely Achievements, Audit Compliance and Quality Assurance.
  • Responsibility for the establishment, maintenance, delivery and administration of all processes, tools and resources to enable the company to successfully deliver apprenticeships and associated qualifications.
  • Manage the onboarding of all learners to ensure that the company undertakes and records initial assessment to ascertain their eligibility and suitability to take part in a company provided apprenticeship levy funded programme, including learner and line manager commitment. 
  • Embed best practice to improve the quality of teaching, learning and assessment, Functional Skills, OTJ training, Learner Starts, Progressions, Timely Achievements, Audit Compliance and Quality Assurance.  
  • Liaise with the Head of Quality and Compliance to ensure that processes and procedures are created, maintained and rolled out to all staff for all apprenticeship programme delivery for the company in line with ESFA and Ofsted guidelines for apprenticeship levy funded training. 
  • Manage and report on the effective tracking of progress to Gateway for End Point Assessment for all learners, effective tracking of Functional Skills certification, scheduling of EPAs in a timely manner with EPAs to optimise completion times in line with ILR commitments and tracking of progress of any additional services expected to be delivered to apprentices.
  • Liaise with the Head of Operations and Finance Director to ensure contracts that you are responsible for are operated profitably and make the targeted financial contribution to the business by controlling costs and achieving volume targets.
  • Manage and monitor the scheduling of all programme interventions to ensure optimum use of company resources and effective management of time and expense.
  • Work cooperatively with all senior members of the apprenticeship team to optimise efficient delivery of all apprenticeships that meet with the Awarding Body requirements.
  • Monitor Apprenticeship staff caseloads to ensure optimum resource planning, and make recommendations where required, to minimise financial implications.
  • Ensure that timely management information both internally and externally to employers is available and reviewed in a timely manner.
  • Liaise with the Functional Skills Specialist to ensure that Functional Skills qualifications are completed in a timely manner to ensure progression through EPA.
  • Provide operational input in to LDC suitability and alignment for caseload assignment for all delivery responsibility for apprenticeships.
  • Responsible for communicating any staff conduct issues to the Head of Operations and liaising with the HR department to ensure a fair and consistent process is applied throughout the business in line with Company procedures and legislative requirements.
  • Manage the delivery of all CPD, including Train the Trainer sessions in consultation with the Quality Assurance Manager, for the apprenticeship division as appropriate to ensure that each team member has the appropriate skills and knowledge to perform the tasks required of them.
  • Support the Apprenticeship Staff as required with apprentice interventions.
  • Provide timely updates and reports as required, including monthly report for the management meeting. To ensure that accurate, timely and regular employer reports are issued in line with our company policy
  • Liaise with the HR department on the recruitment and selection of staff in line with the Company Recruitment and Selection Procedures
  • You will promote safeguarding and the Prevent Duty to improve learner and staff knowledge and help raise their own awareness of the risks of radicalisation and extremism. Ensuring that all safeguarding issues are reported to the Head of Operations and that Safeguarding, Prevent and British Values are embedded in all staff training to support the improvement of learner and staff knowledge and help to raise awareness of Safeguarding, British Values, and the risks of radicalisation and extremism, including local awareness
  • B-Skill does not have a dedicated health & safety officer; therefore, all managers are expected to play an active part in managing health, safety and welfare within their areas of responsibility.  This includes carrying out risk assessments as required in relation to staff and learners and reporting, investigating, and recording incidents and accidents should an incident occur.
  • All managers are expected to play an active role in promoting and managing equality of opportunity and inclusion, not just across their areas of responsibility but across the business and with partners, subcontractors, and external stakeholders.

    Experience and Knowledge

    • Experience and a proven track record in delivering and managing

    • At least 3 years’ proven experience working in a managerial role

    • Understanding of the funding criteria, rules/compliance.
    • Understanding and experience of Ofsted EIF requirements
    • Knowledge of Apprenticeship Levy
    • Achieved significant success with process creation, roll-out and adherence
    • Experience working with professional education and training bodies and an
    understanding of delivering apprenticeship programmes and standards
    • Experience working with data and using data effectively to drive improvements.
    • Experience of using a MIS/VLE system would be advantageous
    • Working experience and proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software
