World Autism Awareness Week
If you haven’t been to The Vault in Gateshead, you should make sure it’s next on your list… And we’re not just saying that because they’re new partners of ours. The Vault is a fantastic American diner on the Gateshead banks of the Tyne serving up delicious burgers, milkshakes and wine/beer for those of us who need something a little stronger (They even make you feel
guilt-free by their funny words of wisdom above the bar!)
But that’s not the only reason we’re bringing The Vault to your attention… The team employed by St. Camillus Care Group to make this diner the place it is all have autism and additional needs.
So last week, we joined The Vault to take part in World Autism Awareness Week. The Vault hosted fundraising events including a Pool Knock-Out Tournament, Quiz Night, Cake Sale and (my favourite) a relay between B-Skill’s Newcastle office and the Gateshead diner.

The relay between the locations was the main event of the week and it’s fair to say we had a really great time being involved. Team B-Skill and Team Vault merged together then split into groups to complete the journey with buckets in our hands for any kind passers-by willing to donate. Joining us was this GPS teddy bear tracking how many miles we travelled over the three hours…
As the last team touched base, we headed over to The Vault for a delicious cake sale and to find out what distance we had
covered during the relay… 8.8 miles!! Hats off to everyone who took part! Some walked, some ran and some nearly got lost (!) But never the less, we all made it back (including the bear!) and raised awareness for a fantastic cause along the way.
Over the week, B-Skill and The Vault raised a total of £126.60 for the National Autistic Society which B-Skill kindly doubled to congratulate everyone on their hard work!
We’re looking forward to working with The Vault and St. Camillus Care Group going forward and can’t wait for more FUNdraising events.
