POSITION:

Air and Seafreight Operator Apprentice

REPORTING TO:

Burton-upon-Trent, Staffordshire

Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

Include but are not limited to the following:

General

  • Timely communication with carriers, subcontractors, hauliers and shipping lines to find appropriate resolutions to customer requirements
  • Responding to customer bookings and overseas agents requests
  • Liaising with overseas branches and internal customers
  • Ensuring accurate data is processed within the Hellmann operating system
  • Handling purchase invoices promptly and raising sales invoices accurately within agreed KPI timescales
  • Co-ordinating all aspects of jobs in accordance with customer requirements
  • Maintenance of tracking events within system in accordance with agreed KPI’s

Import Specific

  • Raising of appropriate documentation (list is not exhaustive)
  • Notice of arrivals
  • Delivery Notes
  • Maintenance/Production of customer spreadsheet information as required
  • Processing of import customs clearance
  • Claiming of shipments through use of external software packages Destin8 and CNS
  • Undertaking Customs Clearance through use of external software package Sequoia
  • Monitoring of arrivals and communication of any schedule deviations to relevant stakeholders

Export Specific

  • Raising of appropriate documentation (list is not exhaustive)
  • Bills of Lading
  • Certificates of Origin
  • Legalisation of supplier documentation
  • Processing export customs clearance
  • Processing further export requirements
  • Completing/providing pre-alerts to overseas network
  • Monitoring of departures and communication of any schedule deviations to relevant stakeholders

Qualifications/Education/Experience/Skills Required

Skills/Competencies

  • Experience in dealing with different types of people – gained through either academic or work experience

  • 5 x GCSE’s or equivalent including Maths and English, Grade A – C

About The Role:

As an Apprentice, you are given the opportunity to earn while you learn gaining experience in logistics. Your role will include on the job training, education (through formal work based learning), as well as the opportunity to demonstrate independent work skills, team working and progression.

The role is Monday to Friday, working 37.5 hours from 9am until 5.30pm with one hour unpaid meal break. There is very limited public transport, therefore we recommend you have access to car or able to get a lift.
