The Level 3 Diploma in Youth Work Practice is a comprehensive 12-month programme designed for aspiring and existing youth workers. Our blended approach encompasses online learning, practical observations, assignments and professional discussions. This qualification opens pathways to higher education and empowers individuals to excel in diverse youth work support settings.

Who is suitable?

This course is designed for individuals employed as youth workers or in voluntary youth support worker settings, requiring a minimum commitment of 6 hours per week.

What you will learn

Individuals must achieve 37 credits to complete their qualification.

The qualification consists of 8 mandatory units (25 credits) as below:

• Theory of Youth Work
• Safeguarding in a Youth Work Setting
• Young People’s Development
• Engaging and Communicating with Young People
• Group Work within a Youth Work Setting
• Working with Behaviour that Challenges in a Youth Work Setting
• Reflective Practice in a Youth Work Setting
• Work-Based Practice in Youth Work

There are a range of optional units which will be discussed prior to you starting the programme.

• Blended learning encompasses online sessions, Interactive group workshops, Practical observations and assessments and professional discussions.

• This qualification aims to provide practitioners with a qualification that embraces National Occupational Standards for youth work and their mandatory competencies containing knowledge requirements and levels of skill.
• Individuals who successfully complete the Level 3 Diploma in Youth Work Practice (England) may progress onto appropriate Level 3 programmes as a pathway to Foundation Degrees and Higher Education. The Level 3 Diploma in Youth Work Practice (England) is the qualification required for those wishing to work as a JNC (Joint Negotiating Committee) qualified Youth Support Worker.
