A work based development programme designed for colleagues that have responsibility for ICT support within the organisation. An Infrastructure Technician provides support to internal and/or external customers, helping them to be productive when using technology to do their own jobs, by using tools to problem-solve and troubleshoot non-routine problems, setting people up on systems and providing support when needed, rectifying issues to maintain the organisations productivity.
  • Working knowledge of a range of cabling and connectivity, the various types of antennas and wireless systems and IT test equipment
  • Where to apply the relevant numerical skills e.g. Binary
  • Relevant networking skills necessary to maintain a secure network
  • Understands the similarities, differences and benefits of the current Operating Systems available
  • Operate remotely and deploy and securely integrate mobile devices
  • Understands the importance of disaster recovery and how a disaster recovery plan works
  • Demonstrates the necessary skills and behaviours to securely operate across all platforms and areas of responsibility
  • Effectively operates a range of mobile devices and securely add them to a network
  • Effectively records, analyses and communicates data at the appropriate level to stakeholders
  • Able to apply structured techniques to common and non-routine problems, testing methodologies and troubleshooting, and analyses problems by selecting the digital appropriate tools and techniques

During the programme: Learners must achieve one internationally recognised vendor or professional qualification from the list:
ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level
ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level
BCS Intermediate Certificate in Software Testing

B-Skill directly delivers the whole standard through a delivery model that best suits the needs of the Employer. This can include 1:1 in the workplace, day release or a blended learning model that includes face-to-face sessions and distant learning via VLE.
This apprenticeship is recognised for entry onto the register of IT technicians confirming SFIA level 3 professional competence and those completing the apprenticeship are eligible to apply for registration.
