An Employers introduction to Apprenticeships and Traineeships
Introduction to Apprenticeships
Apprenticeships are designed to develop the skills and experience needed to succeed in a job role. Whether it is a young person taking the first steps into a career or an existing employee eager to develop their skills and knowledge further, Apprenticeships should be positively embraced by employers to achieve their business growth aims.
Improving quality and to grow the number of Apprenticeships being delivered is one of the Government’s top priorities, pledging to create 3million new Apprenticeships by 2020. The Apprenticeship System has been shaken up to support this goal and drive up quality, including the introduction of an Apprenticeship Levy in April 2017 to help fund the agenda.
Introduction to Traineeships
Traineeships are an integrated education and training programme with real work experience, focusing on giving young people the specific skills that they will need and that you will be looking for in your future employees. The programme gives you an opportunity to create a talent pool of high-quality recruits that you can nurture, develop and progress onto an apprenticeship.
The traineeship programme is also an opportunity for young people to experience your industry sector and working environment, ensuring that they understand what skills are needed to progress onto an Apprenticeship and/or sustainable job, whether that is with your business or another employer.
