Overview

This standard will cover the essential skills needed to make a positive difference to someone’s life when they are faced with physical, practical, social, emotional or intellectual challenges. You will be taught the values and behaviours that are needed to provide high-quality, compassionate care and support, including safeguarding, communication skills and health and safety practices.

Qualifications

Level 2 Diploma in Health & Social Care

Level 1 Functional Skills – English, Maths and ICT

Care Certificate

Entry Requirements

Able to demonstrate good level of English and Maths

Progression

You will be qualified to work as a front-line member of staff in residential or nursing homes, domiciliary care, day centres, a person’s own home or some clinical healthcare settings. You may also become a Personal Assistant, who has the same responsibilities as an Adult Care Worker, but works directly for one individual (usually in their own home).

Lead Adult Care Worker Level 3

Overview

This standard is an integrated programme to develop your knowledge and skills required to become a competent worker operating in a regulated field. You will exercise judgement and take appropriate action to support individuals to maintain their independence, dignity and control. You will provide leadership, guidance and direction at the front-line of care delivery and be instrumental in improving the health and wellbeing of those receiving care and support.

Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (Adults)

Level 2 Functional Skills – English, Maths and ICT

Entry Requirements

Able to demonstrate good level of English and Maths

Progression

You will be qualified to work as a Lead Adult Care Worker in residential or nursing homes, domiciliary care, day centres or some clinical healthcare settings. You may also become a Lead Personal Assistant, who can work at this senior level, usually for one individual who needs support in their own home.

You will be qualified to progress into senior care roles such as Adult’s Manager (Residential or Non-residential) and Adult’s Advanced Practitioner, being responsible for managing the day-to-day provision in a residential service, domiciliary care or day service.
